Sin Boon Kee Coffee Concept Store, Jelutong Penang

Known by the locals as a coffee specialist or coffee factory which started their business producing quality coffee since the 1940s, has recently evolved and joined the cafe scene here in Penang by opening their very own cafe. As a coffee manufacturer who supplies traditional coffee powder to more than 500 'Kopitiams' and hawker restaurants in Penang, you can be sure to have your coffee fix here. 

As we only wanted a simple breakfast for a start, we ordered their Nanyang Set (RM6.90) which consists of the Hainan Roti with butter and kaya OR you can opt for the butter & sugar version (which we ordered too), accompanied by half boiled eggs and coffee/tea. The unique thing that sets this cafe apart from the others are their range of cold coffee. Do not expect your favourite 'kopi-peng' to come filled with 50% of ice cubes. Instead, their cold drinks are served chilled in the fridge to maintain its original taste from being diluted. Not bad!

Here, they do not have an extensive choice of food for you to choose from, but you may opt for a more fulfilling meal by ordering their nasi lemak (we only came here for the basics so we didn't manage to try their nasi lemak). And because we arrived here as soon as they open their door which is at 9am, their nasi lemak was yet ready. Even their 'polo bao' is yet available. So if you want to have a taste of their other food other than the roti bakar, it would be safer to come by after 10am. 
 
If you're a tourist who happens to be here, you can bring home some local gifts by purchasing either their Royal Black Coffee, Penang Kopi-O in sachets, or their premium SBK Roasted Coffee Beans. Of course they too have other things coffee related for sale such as Coffee bean grinders and pot if you're interested.
