Brew n Bloom Cafe, Bukit Jalil

Recently my friends and I decided to meet at least every week (if possible) for jogs at random parks to keep ourselves fit so that we don't turn wrinkly too soon. And so this week we decided to do a little run at the Bukit Jalil Recreational Park which is about 22mins from where I stay. The park is really huge. I think we need to come back another 2-3 times more to see everything. Anyways, let's skip this boring part.

Since we were in Bukit Jalil, we decided to explore the food there. Breakfast! The word kept appearing in our heads even before we finished our workout in the park. The hard part is, we needed to look for a halal/pork free place with outdoor seatings, as one of my friend is a Muslim and she is a little paranoid of eating in confined spaces during this COVID-19 pandemic (RMCO stage now). After much browsing, we found a suitable place for breakfast. Coming here was a little confusing as Waze or google map could not point us to the exact location. There was some construction work going around the area too. Just look out for a nursery. It is a little cafe inside the nursery at the junction of the roadside.

A tiny, open-spaced cafe surrounded in greens. Perfect dining spot for plant lovers

Looks like it's mostly patronised by nearby residents

Their menu covers a good range of local food from Nasi Lemak bungkus, Penang Asam Laksa, Prawn Mee, Nasi Ayam Berempah to my favourite Roti Bakar with kaya and butter, half boiled eggs, and the usual All-day breakfast. They even have them as Set Menus if you want your Roti bakar or their All-day breakfast to go with a Kopi / Milo.

Roti Bakar + Half boiled Eggs + Kopi at RM10

All-day Breakfast RM13.90

I recommend their Roti Bakar because this simple 'Hainanese' bread is well toasted and comes with a generous amount of kaya and slices of solid butter. It may sound like an easy thing to make but many places that I've been, be it a kopitiam or a proper cafe, just can't get my roti bakar right. The all-day breakfast tasted nothing out of the ordinary. It would have been better if it comes with some greens other than some mushrooms to go with the rest of the processed meats ie; the sausages, ham and baked beans. I'd choose kopitiam styled 'kopi' over latte in a place like this since their menu allows me to. Our foods and drinks were served in disposable paper plates and cups as there was a water cut around the area that time. So do not question the use of their utensils as this was a special case.

If you're feeling too full from breakfast, just climb up or take a stroll around the nursery right next to it. And who knows? You may end up going home with a pot of lovely leafy friend!
